Project “KindMinds” was launched with the aim to improve the caregiving service that is provided to socioeconomically challenged individuals who are diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and dementia. The primary goal of the project, thus, is to provide the necessary support to the caregivers also who are often overlooked in discussions around mental health treatment. Towards this, the project intends to employ several measures to bring about the necessary impact. The preliminary step of the project is to bring out an open-access database that will provide holistic information about medical charities offering financial support, pro-bono doctors experienced in geriatric care, mental health counselors with expertise in caregiver burnout, and local support groups to the families who are taking care of individuals diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer’s.
In addition to this, the project will organize workshop sessions through which the caregivers were provided with an avenue to express their emotional states and stress in a comfortable manner. The purpose of the workshops would also be to help the caregivers understand how to manage their stress and use coping strategies for grief in their regular life. As a complementary component to these workshops, the project would also be releasing leaflets that would provide easy-to-understand information regarding self-care strategies. In addition to this, the project will be organizing a fundraiser to support the ongoing efforts of its NGO partner in the area of psycho-social care. An important goal for the project is to organize health camps that will provide to the caregivers an understanding of self-care and necessary food supplements to address both their psychological and physiological concerns.
